Ups and Downs

Today was a bit rockier during the morning and early afternoon. We knew something was off as soon as we walked into her room. She had 3 nurses, the doctor, and the respiratory therapist in there. The doctor told us she would be sitting in there to observe her today and they called the on-call doctor to help with the rest of the floor. Quickly we knew something was up.

Ella's SAT oxygen levels and blood pressure were all over the place. We were able to be with her for a while this morning but seemed to be stressing her out a bit. She was very awake and alert but seemed super uncomfortable. It kills us to see Ella crying with no sound coming out due to the ventilator. These SAT levels have evened out a bit since earlier this evening.

The ventilator removal progression seems to have slowed due to the different issues they were taking care of today... They originally said it would be out tomorrow, but we highly doubt that'll happen. It will be so nice when it does though! We will have to celebrate that night!!!

Dr. Watanabe told us that the clot in her neck area could take 5-7 days to dissipate. They would give her an anti-coagulating medication which would probably cause the clot to disappear quicker but they can't because of the bleeding in her head that we mentioned yesterday. He also mentioned that the neck is an unusual place to get a clot because it is such a large vessel. Of course! Our little girl is a unique little thing already! Her poor little face looks like a marshmallow because of the swelling around her neck.

Ella started to get better and stabilize more throughout the day. It was so sad to see her so irritated earlier today. Ashley, the surgeon's assistant, sat with us in Ella's room for a while today. She was so sweet to make sure that Ella was doing ok. She checked over Ella's numbers and asked the nurses a lot of medical questions that we wouldn't know the answers to.

We left feeling better about her condition than we did the majority of the day. Ella has definitely kept the team busy today!!!

Tonight as we were driving home we saw a rainbow. God reminded us of His promises. 💗
